intoduction

I was sooooo excited to start reading "Passing." For class. So, I open up the book anxiously, and begin reading..................and reading...................and reading. And the book hasen't even started yet. Oddly enough, I feel like I know too much about the book already to get as much enjoyment out of it. What kind of introduction is this?!!!! It's spoiling the whole thing for me. Am I the only one who feels this way? And, professor, do we have to read the whole thing? I really want to enjoy reading this book.
